QuVIS debuts new server products
Brian Coleman

QuVIS has introduced new server technology to the European community highlighting three new lines of video servers that support the playback of 2K and 4K data plus today’s HD formats. In addition to displaying their flagship digital disk player/recorder, QuBit, the company has introduced the new QuVIS Acuity, the QuVIS Ovation and the QuVIS Cinema Player at the Broadcast Production Show and at Olympia in London. The new introductions address the increasing needs of the post-production, digital cinema and fixed display communities. Additionally, QuVIS displayed the QuVIS Digital Mastering Codec (QDMC), an ASIC chip available for OEM.

The QuVIS Acuity is available in two versions: the QuVIS Acuity 2K and the QuVIS Acuity 4K. This line of servers, specifically designed for the production and post industries, offers a single platform with a Virtual Tape architecture that allows users to incrementally move to a digital, disk based workflow. The QuVIS Acuity provides an ideal post-production working environment for storage, transport and archiving. Designed to fit seamlessly into a high-resolution production environment as a disk-based VTR replacement, the system includes standard professional video I/Os, as well as high-speed data I/Os including Gigabit Ethernet and QSDTI. Software tools and a Software Development Kit for both Windows and Linux environments provide custom integration with third party tools, high-speed electronic transfer, automated quality control opportunities and low-level integration.

QuVIS offers an end-to-end solution to deliver digital cinema securely and efficiently to venues worldwide. The QuVIS Cinema Player 2K and QuVIS Cinema Player 4K assure pristine picture quality plus 12 channels of audio for multiple language tracks and subtitling options including native CineCanvas support. The QuVIS Cinema Player has the ability to integrate with any secure cinema management system and support CineLink local link encryption and optional AES data encryption. Simplified scripting allows for feature and advertising updates.
