Avid, in collaboration with Sony and HP, has announced the launch of the Avid Asia-Pacific Student Grant contest, an initiative designed to assist local schools, colleges and universities in preparing students for successful careers in the media industry.
The contest runs for 12 months, and every two months a grant package will be awarded to the winning student who uploads a 60 second video clip to www.avid-asia.com/competitions. The clip can be new or old content created by the student either in the course of their studies or during their own time, and the winning entries will be judged on originality and creativity.
Each winning entry will receive a 'mobile studio' consisting of Avid Media Composer software on an HP Compaq Mobile Workstation, with a Sony Digital Video Camera. Additionally, participants in the student grant contest will have their work showcased to industry professionals and potential employees on Avid websites.
"Avid, as well as our grant partners HP and Sony, are keen to help students find their way into the professional world of digital content creation," said Viviana Cavuoto, marketing director, Avid Asia-Pacific. "By providing access to a grant which gives students freedom to shoot, edit and produce their own content for work or leisure, I believe the grant will enrich the experience for students who aspire to become professionals."
The Avid Asia Pacific student grant contest is open to students in educational institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. For more information, please visit www.avid-asia.com/competitions
