NAB to consolidate 2002 event

WHILE THE OFFICIAL NAB 2001 attendance figure of 112,776 was met with general scepticism, the NAB’s decision to increase its presence at the soon to be enlarged Las Vegas Convention Centre (LVCC), may attract many back to the annual event in 2002.

With traffic snarls increasing, the difficulties associated with travelling between The Sands and the LVCC was one of the major frustrations of NAB 2001.

The construction of the massive South Hall at the LVCC, which is scheduled for completion in early 2002, will enable the NAB to concentrate the majority of exhibition space in the LVCC for next year’s event, including former Sands attractions, E-TOPIA and NAB Multimedia World.

The South Hall expansion will add 918,000 sq ft of exhibit space to the LVCC’s existing 1,040,000 sq ft.

Representatives from some of the key organisations scheduled to occupy the South Hall in 2002 gathered at NAB 2001 to celebrate the announcement. NAB 2002 will be held from April 6th to 11th, 2002.
